DEAR VISITORS:
My name is Robert Dewberry.
I am a Board Certified Neurologist in practice since 1993.
Before going to the University of Maryland School of Medicine to obtain my M.D. I obtained a Ph.D. in Physiological Psychology at Ohio State University where I studied memory and recovery of function after brain damage.
After finishing my residency training in neurology at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, I did a two year fellowship in neuromuscular disease and electromyography at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
In 2006 I obtained certification in medical acupuncture after studying at HMI (Helms Medical Institute).
I had a general neurology practice affiliated with the University of Maryland Medical Center Midtown Campus in Baltimore, Maryland where I was the Stroke Program Director for 5 years.
I am currently in practice at Saluja Medical Associates in Baltimore City.
I treat patients with headaches, memory issues, seizures, dementia, pinched nerves, carpal tunnel syndrome, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson Disease, and polyneuropathies.
Although I know a lot about neurological disease, my greatest interest is in brain wellness, what one can do not only to prevent or delay neurological dysfunction, but to optimize brain function.
Optimal brain function is important for overall health and longevity.
The traditional allopathic paradigm that is dominated by insurers and Big Pharma stifles innovative approaches to healing.
Indeed, healing is not even a word in their lexicon.
Don’t get me wrong. I prescribe plenty of traditional pharmaceuticals that can work well. I simply believe that people should have more options. Options with few or no side-effects.
This is where a healthy lifestyle, exercise, nutritious food, nutriceuticals, and natural nootropics enter the picture.
It has been frustrating to recommend non-presciption OTC remedies that have science to back them up to patients, only to find that most of them (through no fault of their own) cannot afford to purchase them. These patients are locked into a strictly pharmaceutical treatment arena by their insurance plans.
